YOU'RE IN THE RIGHT PLACE! THE PLANNING BEGINS!

WHAT WILL YOU DO TO CHANGE THE WORLD TODAY?

CAMP IMPACT

Camp Impact is a collaborative effort between various schools and universities. Students will participate in an overnight experience that gives insight into their future college and career. This experience focuses on the cultivation and growth of students and guiding them in the right direction. Students will be exposed to all aspects of career & college readiness, character development and they will exercise independent living skills. While on campus, there will be open dialogue, guest speakers and interaction with current college students that will share their experience and offer guidance to students, team building exercises and a campus tour. The students will be exposed to post-secondary education, post-high school employment opportunities, and how to develop independent living skills.

JOB EXPLORATION

Our job exploration programs give students the opportunity and exposure to the 6+ career clusters. Students may participate in community service events, volunteer experience, job shadowing, paid internships and work based learning experiences related to the career cluster they will find most interest in. All paid job placements or internships will be contingent upon success in the classroom.

SELF-ADVOCACY

Self-advocacy is one of our most important components as it pertains to the success of our students. These programs help to expose students to different areas that will help them build their character and introduce them to ways for them to represent themselves and build their communication skills. Students will learn soft skills, communication skills, and independent living strategies. The purpose for self-advocacy is for students not only to understand their academic challenges, but also to understand how to represent them in a positive way when competitive opportunities in the field of work come about.

REACH OUT TO US! WE CAN HELP!

STEM LEARNING

Students will participate in interactive courses that will utilize technology in post-secondary education and will have the opportunity to develop a project using STEM learning. This session is traditionally conducted as an in-house field trip where students obtain the information and they are able to build their project over the course of the program. STEM Projects can range from two days to six weeks depending on how far students are able to advance.

WORKPLACE READINESS

Our workplace readiness programs aim to prepare and equip students with the necessary tools and resources to acquire and maintain gainful employment. Students will have an opportunity to be exposed to multiple careers that they may be involved in post high school. Students will spend a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of 5 weeks in the field with hands-on activities contingent upon their progress and readiness in the classroom.

HOW MCD WORKS WITH SCHOOLS
Mostyn Community Development partners with schools, community centers, churches and school districts, state and local departments, and other community organizations to expand learning and aide in student achievement for students in PreK- 12th grade. MCD’s program helps strengthen social skills and self-esteem, and also aims to increase student performance. We work with principals and district leaders to tailor make learning programs that address the needs of their students and schools. MCD manages program implementation, works with schools leaders, provides enrichment programs and organizes field trips.

MCD collaborates with school and district partners to hire high performing certified teachers within the school and community to lead academic instruction. MCD also recruits and hires paraprofessionals, college students, specialty instructors, recent and past college graduates and other community members to fill additional roles in its program models. We provide training, professional development, curriculum, and supplies. Along with MCD, Schools, districts, and other community partners define criteria for student participation; and collaboratively provide access to classrooms and other spaces within the schools and the community.
