James L. Hearn Community Involvement Scholarship
The James L. Hearn Community Involvement Scholarship Program is a program that has been designed to help high school seniors that have that suffered from the loss of one or both of their parents throughout their lifetime. James L. Hearn was a four-year veteran as a member of the Detroit Police Department whom tragically lost his life on July 26, 2018. This scholarship was not only developed to support students who have lost a parent, but also to encourage community service as that was one of James’ passions. Officer Hearn had been awarded a lifesaving citation for rushing into a burning building to save someone’s life. This was a perfect display that Officer James Hearn was willing to risk his own life to save someone else’s.
Mostyn Community and Education Development Inc. are rewarding this community involvement scholarship in honor of James L. Hearn. The recipient of this award will receive a scholarship that can be applied to their college tuition and needs.
