What We Do
Mostyn Community Development’s focus is to build and nurture relationships with young people encouraging them to promote social awareness, interpersonal skills, leadership, critical thinking and reassert a sense of pride in their community. Challenging students to develop a strong work ethic is a characteristic, once established, that will follow them into their adult lives. MCD provides service and assistance in the following areas of academic enrichment for students deemed at-risk / underprivileged and special needs students: STEM and STEAM learning, career and leadership development, entrepreneurship, vocational training, community outreach, sports and recreation.
MCD encourages students to explore and grow in their educational and career journey. MCD partners with schools, community centers, churches, school districts, other community organizations, and state departments to expand learning time and boost student achievement. Our summers, after school, and during the day programs were created to strengthen social skills and self-esteem, and increases student performance. We work with principals and district leaders to tailor make specific learning programs that address the needs of their students and schools. MCD manages program implementation, works with schools leaders to evaluate student achievement, provide enrichment programs and organizes field trips. Producing career and college ready students is and will remain a top priority. Our vision is that each student that participates in any of our programs is college or career bound immediately after high school and has a full or partial scholarship.
